Biden’s visit will be utilized to enhance Lebanon’s independence
MP Boutros Harb described US Vice President Joe Biden’s visit as “extremely important,” since it could be used to enhance Lebanon’s independence and prevent any country from attempting to enforce political control over Lebanon.
Harb’s comments followed a meeting on Friday with Prime Minister Fouad Siniora in Grand Serail.
He said that he hoped that Biden’s visit will not be involved in Lebanese political electoral conflict, and added that he does not believe that US officials came to Lebanon to influence elections, “rather the visit comes within the framework of the overall tour in the region. Lebanon can make use of this visit because it supports its independence.”
Harb said Siniora assured him that the Lebanese Army and its military forces took all precautionary measures to prepare for the Israeli maneuvers, which are to take place by the end of May and beginning of June.
