Parliamentary Elections Claim First Victim
One person was killed and another injured in clashes between pro-government and opposition supporters in the western Bekaa, al-Liwaa daily reported Monday.
The newspaper said that Ibrahim Shouman, from the opposition, was killed during the fighting in which guns, sticks and sharp objects were used in the town of al-Swairi.
Omar Dib Abou Arab, a majority supporter, was also wounded in the clash that erupted at around 8:30 pm Sunday.
Al-Liwaa said security forces interfered to calm the situation.
In another election-related security incident, two people were injured in a fistfight between the supporters of Ex-Premier Omar Karami and Lebanese Forces MP Farid Habib in the town of Dedde in Koura.
