UNIFIL”s S.Korean contingent to extend mandate
Korean forces operating as part of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) will be extending their mission in the country until the end of next year, South Korea”s Chosun newspaper reported Tuesday.
In a Cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Han Seung-soo on Tuesday, officials approved the extended deployment of Korea”s Dongmyeong forces currently stationed in Tyre for another year and six months. The peacekeeping mandate was set to expire this July. The extension needs parliamentary approval.
