Elections Won”t Change Country”s Path
Hizbullah Deputy Secretary General Sheikh Naim Qassem pointed that no matter what the results of the parliamentary elections are on June 8 Lebanon”s political path will remain as is.
"Regardless of the outcome of the upcoming elections, no party can deviate from the country”s current political path."
In an interview with Al-Jazeera on Thursday, Qassem said, "Hizbullah has no ambition of establishing its own republic."
He said he expected the opposition to win between 67 and 70 seats in parliament, adding, "The opposition will stay united after the elections, and some parties from March 14 could join it."
He denied that Syria and Iran are interfering in Lebanese elections saying: "Certainly Syria hopes the opposition will win."
