Aoun’s Dark Era Jingles Result of Political Bankruptcy
The Lebanese Forces in Kesrouan released a statement on Friday in response to Free Patriotic Movement leader MP Michel Aoun’s Thursday speech in Achrafieh, saying that “Aoun’s revival of the dark era is due to his political bankruptcy.” The statement added, “Aoun has run out of big national slogans after allying with Hezbollah and the Syrian Social Nationalist Party.”
The statement also said that the speech of the Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad “states clearly that Aoun has turned into a political and electoral tool in the hands of the Islamic Republic, which aims to turn Lebanon into an open conflict arena to serve its nuclear ambitions, and its conflict with the west and the international community.”
The statement was referring to Ahmadinejad’s comments, in which he said an opposition victory in Lebanon’s parliamentary elections would cause the political balance of power in the region to shift.
