Metn Battle Not against Aoun, Hizbullah
Parliamentary candidate Sami Gemayel said Monday that the Metn battle was neither against Hizbullah nor against Gen. Michel Aoun’s Free Patriotic Movement.
“It is a battle, however, for a civilized Lebanon where its citizens could live in peace,” Tueni told a pre-election rally in Sin el-Fil.
Gemayel, on the other hand, stressed that “we will not rest before we get rid of all the weapons, regardless of religion, outside the framework of the legitimacy.”
He attacked Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.
“Confrontation and objection are launched from Lebanon. Let Ahmadinejad object from Iran,” Gemayel said.
Gemayel did not spare Syrian President Bashar Assad either.
“Bashar Assad sends all his weapons to Lebanon to destroy Lebanon while he enjoys living in stability in his country,” Gemayel said.
