Tashnag Bringing In Thousands of Armenians from Abroad
Vanguards of Armenian voters began arriving in Beirut to take part in the June 7 ballot in favor of Tashnag in districts where there is Armenian weight.
Al Liwaa newspaper, citing sources in Lebanon’s national carrier Middle East Airlines and other travel agencies, said Wednesday that Tashnag has been “active” lately in organizing trips for Armenian voters from the United States, Canada and Europe.
Unconfirmed reports also spoke about arrangements being made to bring in some 2,000 pro-Tashnag Armenians from Aleppo and nearby towns to Beirut.
Under the plan, the sources said, about 5,000 Armenians are expected to be brought in from abroad to take part in the June 7 vote.
