Sfeir for a Cabinet that Knows Lebanon”s Interests and Forge Relations Not at its Expense
Maronite Patriarch Nasrallah Butros Sfeir expressed his hope that those concerned with forming a new cabinet would be successful in doing so while first taking into consideration Lebanon”s interests and forge relations not at the country”s interests.
During his Sunday sermon Sfeir said: "It is in Lebanon”s interests that the country would strengthen its relations of cooperation and friendship with all states but not at the expense of Lebanon”s independence, sovereignty and interests."
He also hoped that a newly formed cabinet would work on gathering all citizens around their homeland in loyalty first and not to turn to other states.
Sfeir thanked God that the 2009 parliamentary elections took place "without any major security incident."
