Veto Power Rejected, March 14 Must Show Ability to Govern
Chief of the executive committee for "Lebanese Forces" party, Samir Geagea, met today at his residence at Maarab with Coordinator of the General Secretary of March 14 Forces, Dr. Fares Souaid, and discussed with him governmental issues.
Following their meeting, Souaid stated that March 14 forces must show to the world their ability to govern the country and manage its business.
In response to a question about the third veto power, Souaid renewed his position rejecting this third veto power, saying that "if the other party was capable of gaining this power, then this party would have annulled the outcome of parliamentary elections". However, Souaid stressed that the government will be formed away from this veto power concept.
Regarding his opinion about Prime Minister-Designate Saad-El-Hariri”s impending visit to Damascus, Souaid said that if Saad Hariri visits Syria in his capacity as Prime Minister within the framework of a Syrian-Lebanese Summit, then it is acceptable. However, he added, if Hariri visits Damascus in a bid to facilitate government formation, then it is not acceptable.
