Laurent: Hariri Has EU”s Full Support in His Mission to Form “Important” Cabinet
The European Union”s presidency extends its full support for premier-designate Saad Hariri in his efforts to form a new government, European Union Ambassador to Lebanon Patrick Laurent said Monday after talks with al-Mustaqbal Movement leader.
"The premier-designate faces a challenging mission. The formation of a government in Lebanon has always been a delicate matter," Laurent said, adding that the new cabinet was "important" for the country”s future.
On Hariri, he told reporters: "You have a dynamic young (premier) who is an expert and who is holding broad consultations. You must have confidence in him."
Laurent said the European Union was looking forward for the next government to "exert efforts to carry out political, economic and social reforms."
"One of the most essential ways towards stability … is through joint action among political, economic and social forces inside Lebanon," he added.
