March 14 will not permit Syria to regain decision-making power over Lebanon
“The March 14 alliance will not allow Syria to regain its decision-making power over domestic Lebanese issues,” Coordinator of the March 14 General Secretariat Fares Soueid said on Tuesday.
In an interview with Al-Mustaqbal newspaper, Soueid said that he supports openness toward other parties; however, he emphasized the necessity of resolving controversial issues away from politics, such as Hezbollah’s arms, the Arab-Israeli conflict, the implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 1701, the Special Tribunal for Lebanon and Lebanese-Syrian relations.
“It would be rash to say that the majority has thrown away the 2009 parliamentary election results,” a reference to opinions voiced by several figures within the alliance, “since the March 14 victory has led to appointing Future Movement leader MP Saad Hariri as prime minister,” Soueid said.
