March 14 Warns Against Meddling Under “Assistance” Slogan
The March 14 general secretariat warned on Wednesday against attempts to interfere in Lebanon”s internal affairs "under the slogan of assistance."
The March 14 alliance "backs the establishment of a national unity government that facilitates the crossing to statehood," the secretariat said in a statement after its weekly meeting.
It called for commitment to the Taef accord, Arab consensus that expresses common Arab interest and compliance with international resolutions, in particular resolution 1701.
The statement reiterated support for Premier-designate Saad Hariri in his efforts to form a new cabinet and welcomed Arab reconciliations that remove obstacles facing stability and sovereignty in Lebanon.
It warned, however, against attempts to interfere in the country”s internal affairs and take Lebanon back to the era of hegemony "under the slogan of assistance."
"Improvement of Lebanese-Syrian relations is made on a state-to-state basis and by turning the page on the past, finding a solution to all lingering problems and opening a new page of mutual cooperation," the statement concluded.
