MP Aoun’s Demand to have Seven Ministers leads to Inefficiency
Lebanese Forces MP Antoine Zahra told Future News on Thursday that Free Patriotic Movement leader MP Michel Aoun’s demand to have seven ministers within the new cabinet is “unrealistic.”
Zahra said that Aoun’s statement, in which he reiterated his call for forming the new government on the basis of proportionality, on Wednesday, may be hinting at the FPM leader’s refusal to participate in the new cabinet.
“The LF is against granting the opposition the obstructing-third vote,” he noted, stressing that the party wants to facilitate Prime Minister-designate Saad Hariri’s mission to form the cabinet as soon as possible using the 16-10-4 formula, in which the majority gets 16 ministers, the opposition gets 10 and the president gets 4.
The 16-10-4 formula will ensure the president has veto power, said Zahra.
