Former PM Amin al-Hafez Dies at 88
Former Lebanese Prime Minister Amin al-Hafez died at Hotel Dieu hospital on Monday. He was 88.
Al-Hafez was born in the northern port city of Tripoli in 1921. He became prime minister for less than two months on April 25, 1973 when Suleiman Franjieh was president.
He will be buried in Tripoli at noon Tuesday.
The premiership announced a three-day mourning period starting Tuesday during which flags will be flown at half-mast and media outlets would alter "normal programming."
