Sleiman Highlights Significance of Maronites in Lebanon
President Michel Sleiman highlighted, in a meeting with a delegation from the Maronite General Council, the Maronites’ essential role in Lebanon.
Following the meeting, held in Baabda on Monday, Sleiman said that the diversity in Lebanon requires interaction between groups, “especially when the constitution has established a political role for each.”
“Lebanese sects should not watch other sects struggling amongst each other. Otherwise, Lebanon will lose its main characteristic, which is diversity, the very quality which makes it a model to the world and to the dialogue between religions and cultures.”
