Little Breakthrough in Cabinet Formation
Parliamentary sources cited an optimistic atmosphere as reason for a "little but serious breakthrough" in the formation of a national unity government.
The sources told An Nahar daily that the Cabinet lineup process is "moving forward, but slowly."
They hinted that the breakthrough is likely related to the Opposition demand of veto power as well as alternatives and guarantees.
As Safir newspaper, however, quoted well-informed sources as saying that "no quick deal is seen."
Pan-Arab daily Al Hayat, for its part, said a breakthrough has been achieved in talks on Cabinet formation, adding that contacts will intensify over the weekend.
Meanwhile, MP Oqab Saqr uncovered that Speaker Nabih Berri has informed Prime Minister-designate Saad Hariri that the Opposition was not committed to veto power.
