Khalifeh: 70 Swine Flu Cases Confirmed, but Virus Not Serious
Health Minister Mohammed Jawad Khalifeh said Thursday Lebanon has so far registered 70 cases of swine flu and announced he will participate in next week”s Arab health ministers emergency conference.
"In my opinion the number is likely to multiply because the virus spreads quickly," he told the National News Agency.
However, he said, research has showed that the virus was "not serious because death rates were limited around the world and it affected patients who already have health issues."
The emergency conference will convene on Wednesday in Cairo to discuss contingency plans ahead of the Muslim pilgrimage season in addition to the Arab health ministry budget.
