105 Swine Flu Cases in Lebanon
The health ministry announced on Friday 23 new swine flu cases in Lebanon, raising the total to 105.
The ministry said in a statement that the rise in the number of people infected with swine flu comes as a result of the massive influx of travelers from countries severely hit with the A(H1N1) virus.
However, it said that 43% of cases came after being infected in Lebanon as a result of direct contact with travelers arriving in the country.
The statement reiterated that no deaths were reported in the country so far.
The flu virus has spread to almost every country in the world since it was discovered at the end of March, the World Health Organization said Friday.
"The spread of this virus continues, if you see 160 out of 193 WHO member states now have cases, so we are nearing almost 100 percent but not quite yet," said Gregory Hartl, spokesman for the WHO.
