Suleiman Holds Telephone Discussions with Assad, Mitchell
President Michel Suleiman has held separate telephone conversations with President Bashar Assad of Syria and United States Mideast envoy George Mitchell.
Talks Monday with Assad covered the continuity and progress of coordination between both presidents regarding pressing issues facing the Middle East and peace process with Israel based on what was decided in the last Arab summit in Doha. They also stressed the need to keep the Arab track united in any negotiations with Israel.
In talks last night with Suleiman, Mitchell described as "fruitful" his meeting with Assad, and stressed that any future peace talks in the Middle East will not take place "at Lebanon”s expense."
