Geagea Ready to Meet Franjieh
Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea said Wednesday he was prepared to meet the head of Marada Movement Suleiman Franjieh.
"We have reconciled with the Marada a while ago and we maintained contacts in one form or the other," Geagea told journalists.
"We hope that contacts can now take the appropriate form. We are open to any advanced communication, without any confusion," he added.
On the government”s formation, he said the demands for veto power were the "principal obstacle from the start, but it has now been eliminated."
"The president of the republic has always assured us that he was not a depot and that his ministers belonged to him," Geagea said, adding that Michel Suleiman”s pick will be his own responsibility.
"But if March 14 and March 8 selected the president”s minister then he will not responsible for him," he said.
"These are the broad lines that have been agreed on. What remain to be determined are the candidates and the portfolios. There are, however, some obstacles that are unfortunately driven by personal considerations," Geagea added.
He repeated his objections to the nomination of ministers who had lost as parliamentary candidates in the June 7 polls saying the rule will also be applied on Fares Soaid.
"We will discuss with the president and the premier-designate the Lebanese Forces” demands for the future government," he said.
He said he will not accept any ministerial portfolio.
