Al-Mustaqbal to Jumblat: Each Party Has the Right to Adopt its Own Stance
In an indirect response to Progressive Socialist Party leader Walid Jumblat, al-Mustaqbal movement said Sunday that each political party has the right to adopt its own stance.
"Al-Mustaqbal movement believes in the right of each political party to adopt the stance and slogans that it wants," it said in a statement. "However, the interest of the Lebanese citizen comes before any other party or movement."
Jumblat announced Sunday that his alliance with March 14 forces was driven by "necessity" and must not continue in the same form.
"Our battle was built on the rejection of the other from a sectarian, tribal and political perspective," the MP told PSP”s extraordinary general assembly, calling for a return to "our principles and to the left."
"The March 14 forces never rejected the other," al-Mustaqbal”s statement said.
The coalition always called for the implementation of the Taef accord and the constitution, according to al-Mustaqbal, which also stressed that "Lebanon First" will remain its slogan.
"It”s ok if some want to remind of their history, but on condition of not going back to the shameful history in which many were partners in putting their personal interest above the nation”s interest," the movement added.
