New Insight into Joseph Sader”s Kidnapping
An Nahar daily said Monday that Engineer Joseph Sader was possibly kidnapped earlier this year as a result of ties to a man who reportedly made phone calls to Israel.
According to the newspaper, a Lebanese expatriate who hails from Sader”s town in the south visited Lebanon after several years of absence and gave some of his property to villagers, including the Sader family.
The engineer accompanied the expatriate during his stay in Lebanon and visited with him archeological and religious sites.
After traveling back to his country of residence, the man called Sader telling him that his son would also like to visit Lebanon, An Nahar said. However, the new traveler went to Israel before coming to Lebanon.
He stayed around a week at his friends” house and according to information provided to An Nahar, the man made several phone calls to the Jewish state which possibly led to Sader”s abduction.
Sader, an official at Middle East Airline”s IT department, was kidnapped in February near Rafik Hariri international airport by unidentified assailants who sped away in a Sports Utility Vehicle.
The newspaper said that Lebanese security forces sought in vain to retrieve information from the telecommunications ministry on the phone calls data.
