I am Not Above the law
Al-Jadeed Anchorwoman Ghada Eid denied that she had received a warrant for her arrest adding she is not above the law while claiming a conspiracy against her.
In an interview with the daily al-Akhbar on Monday Eid said, "what happened was a mistake." She went on to reject the "police method" for her arrest.
Judge Shaeed Salameh accused Eid of slander during her weekly television show “al-Fassad” (corruption), over the killing of Nasri Marouni in 2008 when unknown gunmen in a speeding car opened fire on the Kataeb party headquarters in the eastern town of Zahle.
Eid who is Marouni”s cousin, affirmed, "I am not above the law. However, I have the right to object against any form of legal action taken [against me] that does not adhere to the norms."
She went to question the motive behind aiding the escape of those that assassinated her cousin Marouni and Salim Assi.
Eid refused to discuss how she managed to leave the al-Jadeed television station on Friday evening after being surrounded by police seeking her arrest.
"Tourist Minister Elie Marouni [Nasri”s brother] arrived to the TV station, but I refused to leave with him…I do not seek politicians," she said.
