The Cedar Revolution is a Moment that Summed Up All of our History
Care-Taker Prime Minister Fouad Saniora indirectly responded to “Democratic Gathering” parliamentary bloc and Progressive Socialist Party leader Mp Walid Jumblat without mentioning his name in saying the cedar revolution is a moment that summarized all of our history.
During a celebration Tuesday in Beirut in placing the founding stone for the Fouad Butros street, Saniora said: "The cedar revolution is a moment that summed up all the history that we pride ourselves with, in a country we want as Fouad Butros did, a unique, free and Arab realm, a beaming light for east and west."
"We shall never abandon or bargain over our independence, freedom, sovereignty and democratic system," Saniora added.
He went further to reiterate his commitment to a strong Arab cause in building equal and healthy relations with all the Arabs based on "our full cooperation and collaboration with our close and distant Arab brethren."
Saniora went on to emphasize the point of "seeking to further foster common existence in a manner that does not return us back to the language of the past, to affirm harmony and the languages of dialogue and understanding."
He stressed the fact that the Lebanese continue to hold on to the principles of freedom, sovereignty, independence, democracy a civil system and the principle of reciprocity of power "for all these reasons Lebanon had its martyrs, and the Lebanese uprising at that moment represented a state of high effulgence that crystallized their awareness and strong holding to what they desire."
"The push must never slow nor should our direction change, irrespective of the difficulties and challenges in order to fully implement the Taef Accord," Saniora said.
