Berri Remains Optimistic on Cabinet Formation Despite Hariri”s Travel
Speaker Nabih Berri has said that the cabinet will be formed sooner or later even if Prime Minister-designate Saad Hariri went on vacation.
"No matter what happens, the government will be formed based on the formula that all parties agreed on" and "even if numbers and majorities or minorities change," Berri told An Nahar and As Safir dailies in remarks published Wednesday.
The speaker”s sources said the crisis that erupted following Druze leader Walid Jumblat”s latest remarks will be overcome. "Things haven”t reached a dead end and the cabinet formation won”t take long," they told An Nahar.
Hariri”s presence in southern France "will not be for long," according to Berri, who also said that cabinet formation will only take a few days.
Well-informed sources have told As Safir daily that Hariri informed President Michel Suleiman and Berri that he will return from his vacation in 48 hours.
