Maronite Bishops: Delay in Government Shape-Up Unfortunate
The Maronites bishops expressed regret Wednesday over the delay in the government”s formation, after their monthly meeting in al-Deeman headed by Patriarch Nasrallah Sfeir.
"Lebanon is in dire need of a government that can take on its responsibility toward the citizens and that can take into consideration the situation in the country," they said in a statement after the meeting.
It said Lebanon has grown "weary of interferences in its affairs."
The bishops called on the Lebanese to "take a firm decision to advance Lebanon”s standing while preserving the friendly ties and cooperation that brings them closer to their neighbors and friends."
The bishops praised "efforts aimed at achieving reconciliations in the Lebanese house in general and that of the Maronites in particular."
