Aoun Weakening the Presidency and His Audacity Against Patriarch a Crime
Parliament Deputy Speaker Farid Makari accused “Change and Reform” parliamentary bloc leader MP Michel Aoun of practically working on weakening the presidency in seeking to take all major portfolios at the next national unity government, away from the president.
"Aoun has no right to pre-determine the president”s share in the government and its portfolios as if he is the most important figure in Lebanon," Makari said on Sunday.
He accused the Free Patriotic Movement leader of being " a tool for hindering government formation and a landmine against all that could contribute to good constitutional institutions."
Makari accused Aoun and others who launch a campaign of attacks against Maronite Patriarch Nasrallah Sfeir as ones committing a crime.
"He [Sfeir] is the entity”s defender, he has played a decisive role in the campaign for regaining our indepence, freedom and sovereignty," he said.
