First Investigative Judge in Beirut Ghassan Oueidat approved the release on bail of seven men allegedly involved in deadly sectarian clashes in Aisha Bakkar, a judicial report said on Tuesday.
Oueidat released Ali Karim, Youssef Merhi, Ali al-Badawi, Said al-Sabeh, Tarek al-Saeed and Rabih al-Kaaki on LL1 million ($666) bail each on Tuesday. The seven were detained for allegedly involvement in clashes between supporters of the Sunni Future Movement of Prime Minister-designate Saada Hariri and supporters of the Shiite Amal Movement of Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri.
The June clashes led to the killing of a mother of five, Zeina al-Meeri and the injury of at least 11 people.
