Body of Slain Abdullah Ghandour Found in Batroun; One Killer Arrested, Two Accomplices on the Run

Authorities found the body of the president of the North”s Chamber of Commerce and Industry near al-Msaylha citadel in Batroun, after he went missing on Saturday, and arrested one of his three killers who confessed to his crime, the National News Agency reported.

The body of 77-year old Abdullah Ghandour was stuffed inside a travel bag and abandoned on a roadside of the Beirut-Tripoli highway between the citadel and the Shekka tunnel after his killers drugged him and gave me him electric shocks , it said.

The main killer Raafat Abdullah al-Dahni told interrogators he committed the murder for personal reasons with the help of two accomplices, one of whom has fled the country, the Internal Security Forces said in a statement.

The body was taken to the government hospital in Tripoli for autopsy, it said, adding that security forces were looking for the two fugitives.

Reenacting the crime at the scene, Dhani said he and two other people had invited Ghandour to one of Kesserwan”s restaurants on Saturday.

"The victim parked his car in a Tripoli parking lot before riding with the other three in their car," the NNA reported Dhani as saying. "The killers then gave him a drug and administered electrical shocks in order to subdue him and force him to pay past debts," the NNA said. However, "Ghandour”s heart was took weak. He suffered a stroke and died on the spot."

Dahni works at the bureau of a privately owned Iraq television channel in Tripoli. Dahni and Ghandour used to have a business relationship and worked in trade in Iraq.
