Justice Ministry: No Internet Phone Calls with Israel
The prosecutor-general”s office has commissioned judicial squads to investigate about the communication network carrying unlawful international phone calls via the illegal internet company in the Barouk region.
An ongoing political bickering around the issue started three weeks ago following the row over Jebran Bassil”s reappointment as telecommunications minister.
Highly-informed judicial sources declared that an investigation about the issue last April accused six persons of illegal international phone calls.
Walid Joseph Moussa, Amal Farid Zebiane, Fadi Emile Abdel- Ahad, Nicolas Elias Akl, Elias Nicolas al-Haddad and Nadim Joseph Moussa were referred then to the penal judge in Deir el-Qamar in the Chouf area.
In a reply to caretaker Minister Bassil”s statement about the Barouk illegal Internet company with links to Israel, an official in the Ministry of Justice clarified that all Bassil correspondence sent to the Ministry of Justice "showed no existence of such a network."
"However, the reports indicated the existence of an illegal TV dish with no link to the (mentioned) internet," the official added.
