Asiri Says Cabinet Formation Internal Issue; Boueiz Warns of “Cold War” in Lebanon
Saudi Ambassador Ali Awad Asiri reiterated Monday that the Cabinet formation was "an internal issue" and called for the cooperation of all political parties in what serves "the country”s interest, unity and stability."
Asiri, who met former Minister Fares Boueiz, reconfirmed the kingdom”s full support to Lebanese unity.
For his part, Boueiz stressed the fact that the obstacles facing the Cabinet lineup reflected "the regional conflicts."
Hence, Bouez continued, "the core and the ceiling" of the ongoing situation "remain regional," indicating that some political forces are taking advantage "to up level their own ceiling and escalate their maneuvers."
Bouez concluded that Lebanon is experiencing "a cold war" between "those who want to enhance the resistance”s role and those who want to avoid providing (Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin) Netanyahu with any justification that will lead to more deterioration."
