Tahbish Denies Involvement in Murder of 4 Judges

Sheikh Wissam Tahbish, a leading member of al-Qaida-inspired group known as Jund al-Sham, has reportedly denied involvement in the murder of four Lebanese judges in the port city of Sidon 10 years ago.

Pan-Arab daily Al-Hayat, citing senior judicial sources, said Wednesday that Tahbish, who was arrested last week, denied during preliminary interrogation with Lebanese intelligence any involvement in the judges” assassination in 1999.

The source said Tahbish”s name was mentioned by in a lawsuit with a number of suspects in the crime, but there was no evidence of involvement in the assassination

Tuheibesh already named in the lawsuit Astnabp with a number of suspects in the crime, but there is no evidence of involvement in the assassination of the four judges.

Lebanese troops arrested Tahbish last Wednesday as he was trying to enter the Ain el-Hilweh refugee camp near Sidon. Tahbish was grabbed from inside a car.

Several arrest warrants have been issued against Tahbish who is also wanted for his alleged involvement in terror attacks in Lebanon, a security official had said.
