Domestic Obstacles Are Hindering Cabinet Shape-Up
Youth and Sports Minister Talal Arslan said in comments published Wednesday that obstacles to the government formation were internal not regional.
In an interview with al-Sayyad magazine, Arslan considered he had a "natural right to have a minister in the future government and so does the Change and Reform bloc."
He said that MP Michel Aoun had "promised him not to take any decision that has not been agreed on by the Change and Reform bloc."
Arslan said that Hizbullah backed his demands for representation in the government. "Hizbullah clearly expressed its support during talks with the party”s leadership in Khaldeh recently," he added.
He said the "any constitutional guarantees" for the Druze "pushes us to strongly call for the establishment of a senate headed by a Druze to act as a guarantor for all minorities."
Arslan said the 15-10-5 cabinet formula "consolidates division among the Lebanese and I am personally against it."
