ISF arrests robbery, murder suspect in Tabarja
A robbery and murder suspect was arrested by the Internal Security Forces (ISF) in the area of Tabarja on Wednesday. Security forces said the Lebanese national, “H.Q.,” was arrested while hiding at a beach resort in Tabarja.
He is suspected of having robbed and beaten Ali al-Shanawi al-Khodor on July 26. In a statement, the ISF said the victim left his home in the southern village of Sarafand on July 25, carrying LL 4 million.
He was later found unconscious near the Sidon-Tyre highway and was transported to a local hospital where he passed away on July 30, due to injuries from a blunt instrument. ISF investigations revealed that the suspect had accompanied the deceased before the incident, and had stolen LL 3 million and a mobile phone from the deceased, after beating him and abandoning him.
The ISF said the stolen phone had been given to a Syrian national, who was now in custody, and was sold at a store in Jounieh three days later.
