Ministers aim to boost votes for grotto “Wonder”
Top officials met on Tuesday to discuss creating a way for people to vote free of charge for Jeita Grotto to become one of the “New Seven Wonders of Nature.” Proposals were discussed on Tuesday during a meeting between Tourism Minister Elie Marouni and Telecommunications Minister Gebran Bassil.
The ministers examined the means that could allow all subscribers to Lebanese mobile networks to vote for Jeita Grotto.
Marouni said a delegation from the Tourism Ministry had already met with Interior Minister Ziyad Baroud “to guarantee that all Lebanese would unite in voting for the grotto.”
“Jeita’s becoming one of the new wonders would be a victory for all of Lebanon” he said.
Jeita Grotto is a naturally formed cave located 20 kilometers north of Beirut. It was selected as one of the 28 finalists in a global competition to elect the “New 7 Wonders of Nature.”
