March 14 for More Decisive Judicial Stance Against Symbols of Hegemony
The March 14 general-secretariat described latest attacks on the international tribunal as part of attempts to give the Lebanese the choice of civil peace in return for dropping demands for justice and truth into ex-Premier Rafik Hariri”s assassination.
A statement read by Coordinator Fares Soaid following the general-secretariat”s weekly meeting on Wednesday said the attacks by former head of the General Security Department Maj. Gen. Jamil Sayyed and others on the Special Tribunal for Lebanon have the following meaning: "If you (Lebanese) want civil peace then you have to drop demands for truth and justice."
The statement reminded that the Cedar Revolution on March 14, 2005 sought to achieve independence on one side and seek the truth and justice on the other.
The conferees also condemned Sayyed”s attacks on the Lebanese judiciary saying "the symbols of terror and threats that targeted the institutions during the (period of Syrian) hegemony and their methods have abated."
They urged the judiciary to be "more decisive" in its response to those verbally attacking it in order to defend its "dignity."
The statement welcomed the parliamentary majority”s meeting on Monday and Wednesday”s statement of the Council of Maronite Bishops.
