Authorities investigating spate of robberies, car thefts
Three car thefts and a robbery were reported Wednesday in the Zouk Mosbeh, Yasou al-Malak and Majdal Anjar regions, according to a security report carried by at the state-run National News Agency (NNA).
The house of Ali Hamadeh, son of late Speaker Sabri Hamadeh, in the Bekaa town of Majdel-Anjar was robbed after thieves broke in and stole valuable antiques and furniture. Two cars were stolen in the Kesrouan town of Yassou al-Malak and Majdal Anjar after armed suspects managed to hold the drivers at gunpoint and escape with the vehicles.
Meanwhile, gunmen also tried to steal a car in Zouk Mosbeh but failed to do so “due to technical difficulties,” the NNA said.
