LF”s Zahra stresses need to abide by Taif Accord
Lebanese Forces (LF) MP Antoine Zahra stressed on the necessity of abiding by the Taif Accord in order to establish a sovereign state “in the full meaning of the word.” The Saudi-brokered Taif Accord put an end to Lebanon’s 1975-90 Civil War.
“We went to Taif to launch our demands for a nation that avoids national strife, and set the foundations for a secure country,” he said. The lawmaker added that the LF has fully committed to the provisions of Taif. “Hence we gave in all our weapons to the government, while some other factions still hold on to their weapons,” said Zahra.
He added that the LF was committed to the truth “no matter how serious and delicate the domestic situation is.” “We believe in purely Lebanese decisions rather than foreign resistance on Lebanese territories,” he added.
