MP Sami Gemayel “Disinterested” in Ministerial Portfolio
MP Sami Gemayel said Tuesday that the Kataeb party has not been "officially" informed of the proposed Cabinet lineup and expressed his refusal to participate in it.
MP Gemayel told Kataeb”s website that he has "no intention to be a part of this Cabinet".
He reiterated that the proposed Cabinet formation did not reflect the agreement that was reached between President Amin Gemayel and Premier Hariri and considered that the way Kataeb”s portfolios and ministers were suggested "does not do justice to a major political party that represents a large section of Lebanese Christians."
The Metn MP urged a "revision" of the proposed Cabinet structure and warned against coming out with similar "Cabinet formulas that could lead to more political bickering."
Gemayel stressed on the necessity to strengthen Lebanon "to protect it against every conceivable threat."
