Suleiman to Opposition: Hariri Exercised his Constitutional Right
President Michel Suleiman has reportedly told the Opposition during a meeting in Beiteddine on Tuesday that Prime Minister-designate Saad Hariri has exercised his Constitutional right to the Cabinet lineup.
The daily An Nahar said the Opposition delegation made of Telecoms Minister Jebran Bassil, Hizbullah official Hussein Khalil and AMAL MP Ali Hassan Khalil informed Suleiman on Tuesday that "Presenting the Cabinet lineup the way Hariri did is not his right," the daily An-Nahar quoted the Opposition delegation as telling Suleiman.
Suleiman reportedly responded that "this is his (Hariri”s) Constitutional right."
"You can, however, discuss the content," Sulleiman told the delegation made of Telecoms Minister Jebran Bassil, Hizbullah official Hussein Khalil and AMAL MP Ali Hassan Khalil.
It was at this point that the delegation demanded to present amendments to the Cabinet list but not before consultations among Opposition leaders.
