Hariri’s Resignation – Crisis domestic, Not Regional
Democratic Gathering bloc MP Marwan Hamadeh told Voice of Lebanon radio station on Sunday that the majority has agreed to nominate Future Movement leader MP Saad Hariri.
He said that Hariri’s decision to step down from his post as prime minister-designate confirmed “the sovereignty of the constitution in Lebanon and reunited the majority” as well as making the Lebanese crisis a domestic one instead of a regional crisis. “Hariri is ready and will continue to hold the responsibility of the cabinet formation,” Hamadeh said. He also said he hopes Speaker Nabih Berri will nominate Hariri again.
He said the new prime minister-designate and president should agree to the prospective ministers and then submit their proposals to the Lebanese people. He called for the process to be kept away from foreign interferences, including the Palestinian crisis.
