We Won”t Allow the South to Remain Message Exchange Arena
Army Commander Gen. Jean Qahwaji has urged alertness on the border with Israel and said the military will not allow southern Lebanon to stay a battlefield for the exchange of messages.
"The delicate situation that the country is going through should absolutely not limit our determination and ardor," Qahwaji said during an iftar in Jounieh on Thursday.
The army and other security apparatuses "should increase joint efforts to monitor the movements of terrorists and continue tracking them," the army commander added.
About Israel, Qahwaji said the army and security forces should confront the Jewish state”s "schemes and be resolute with those tempering with civil peace."
The general called for "more alertness on the southern border and close cooperation with the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon as part of the implementation of resolution 1701."
He described the latest rocket attack on Israel as part of attempts to keep southern Lebanon "an arena for the exchange of messages."
"We won”t allow this," he said, adding that it jeopardizes the nation and does a favor for Israel.
He finally urged soldiers to stay united to achieve victory of the nation.
