King Abdullah to Visit Syria, Khoja in Beirut Soon
Lebanon is waiting to see the impact of the breakthrough in ties between Syria and Saudi Arabia amid reports that Saudi King Abdullah will visit Damascus in the coming days.
Speaker Nabih Berri, meanwhile, expressed optimism in light of developments regarding the S-S relationship, a reference to Syria and Saudi Arabia.
Berri reiterated that the Syrian-Saudi rapprochement is "the key to the breakthrough in Arab-Arab ties as well as inter-Lebanese relations."
The daily As-Safir on Friday, citing a well-informed Arab diplomatic source, said Syrian President Bashar Assad has renewed an invitation to King Abdullah to visit Damascus.
The sources said King Abdullah accepted the invitation and promised that he will visit the Syrian capital in the coming few days.
They said Abdullah also decided to dispatch Information Minister Abdul Aziz Khoja to Beirut soon in a bid to update the various Lebanese political leaders on the outcome of the Syrian-Saudi summit.
