LF reflects National Call for “Balance”
Lebanese Forces bloc MP Antoine Zahra told the Free Lebanon radio station on Saturday the LF event for Martyrs of the Lebanese Resistance will reflect “a national call to restore balance,” in a possible reference to the role of Christian parties in Lebanon, particularly his bloc within the majority.
Zahra denied reports of consultations heading toward a technocrat government, saying that it may be an “exit [strategy] in case efforts to form a national-unity cabinet failed and the political crisis worsens.”
Zahra also stressed that the country is facing tension due to the Iranian nuclear issue. He commented on Syrian President Bashar al-Assad’s visit to Saudi Arabia to meet with Saudi Kind Abdullah bin Abdel Aziz, saying Damascus is trying to avoid isolation.
He also voiced hope that the country would benefit from the Saudi-Syrian rapprochement, however, he added that it probably will not last for long.
