Jumblat Condemns Israel”s Maneuvering of the International Community and U.N.”s Double Standards
Jumblat condemned Israel”s maneuvering of the International Community in order to impose the recognition of the Jewish state; and he strongly criticized the United Nations” double standard regarding the nuclear arms proliferation.
"The last Resolution 1887 issued by the U.N. should have looked to all parties possessing nuclear armament without discrimination and double standards as it accuses Iran while ignores Israel and other countries depending on their proximity or distance from the U.S," stated Jumblat in his weekly article in the PPS magazine "al-Anba".
The Progressive Socialist Party”s leader said that the nuclear file "demands a comprehensive approach according to common and unifying standards", however, he added "probably the actual international balance of powers would not provide this luxury to the Third World."
Condemning Israel”s Zionist and discriminative ideology vis-à-vis the Palestinian people throughout history as well as its maneuverings, Jumblat underscored the fact that "after the U.S. failed in freezing the settlements construction, Israel is pressurizing the International Community, the U.N. the Palestinian Authority and the Arabs to recognize the Jewish state."
Hence, the Druze leader warned against the endangerments that would follow such as "implementing new waves of Palestinian exudes and emptying historical Palestine from both Palestinians and Arabs."
Given that, Jumblat deplored the ongoing Palestinian reality that is " divided and scattered to the maximum, regressing day after day without being able to achieve any noticeable progress against an enemy that persists in its stubbornness, refusing a minimal freezing of the settlements."
