Hariri”s 6th Day of Consultations: Sami Gemayel for March 14 Christians to Be Represented "as They Deserve", Anouar Khalil for a Privatization that "Safeguards the State”s Rights"

PM-designate Saad Hariri resumed Wednesday afternoon his 6th round of Parliamentary consultations in Nejmeh Square and met for the second time the "Development and Liberation" bloc as well as the Phalange.

Following the meeting with Hariri, MP Anouar Khalil said that discussions stressed mainly on "economic, financial and social issues," mentioning that the main topics revolved around "the public debt and the issue of privatization."

He confirmed that the "Development and Liberation" bloc supports privatization as long as "the rights of the state are safeguarded" and emphasized on "the importance of putting in place plans and projects in order to restore the citizen”s confidence in the state."

MP Khalil reiterated his bloc”s support for forming the cabinet "as soon as possible" and its commitment " to facilitate seriously and positively this task."

From his end, MP Sami Gemayel who headed the Phalange Parliamentary bloc MPs told the reporters at the end of their meeting with the PM-designate that "the March 14 Christians ought to be given the status and position they deserve in order to restore their trust in themselves as well as in the state."

MP Gemayel warned against any attempt to "overthrow the current political system or to coil around the Constitution by the force of arms."

Although Gemayel favored a majority cabinet according to the last electoral results, he stated, "a coalition cabinet would be accepted."

Around 8 o”clock in the evening, PM-designate Hariri had completed his consultations for the day. He will meet tomorrow separately the Lebanese Forces and the "Change and Reform" blocs.
