Majority Questions Minority”s Intentions behind Optimistic Statements
Beirut media expected Thursday that PM-designate Saad Hariri would brief President Michel Suleiman during the weekend about his consultations with majority and minority parliamentary blocs.
Sources close to Hariri said the premier-designate would sum up all ideas and stress on laying a clear groundwork before forming a coalition cabinet. This explains why the Mustaqbal movement leader asked blocs clear-cut questions over many problems.
Meanwhile, the majority was cautious about the opposition”s optimism on cabinet formation.
An Nahar daily quoted majority sources as saying that such optimism is baseless since opposition members continue to issue threats and make challenges "as if they became a majority that has the cabinet formation responsibility."
The sources expressed fears that such optimism was aimed at putting pressure on the March 14 forces to make more concessions.
