2 Lebanese Accused in Plot to Kill Libyan PM
Two Lebanese men and a Libyan fugitive have been charged of attempting to kill the Libyan prime minister.
The accused men said they were seeking revenge for the kidnapping of Shiite Imam Moussa Sadr and his companions in 1978.
Military Examining Magistrate Fadi Sawwan accused the two Lebanese men of plotting to assassinate Libyan PM al-Baghdadi Ali al-Mahmoudi by means of explosive substances via mail last June, security sources said.
They said investigation was launched to pin down a Palestinian accomplice said to be in charge of placing the explosives in the mail.
The package, bound for Libya, had been confiscated by Lebanese General Security.
