Pierre Boulos: A symbol of Service and Commitment
Pierre Boulos was chairman of the LF Students Branch in the 1980″s; he was found dead in the
trunk of his car outside the Gemayze Hospital after disappearing for two days in April 2004.
Forensic experts have concluded the cause of death was severe trauma to the head by a large metal
object, and the dynamics of his murder are very similar to Ramzi Irani”s death. The funeral for
Pierre Boulous was held on Sunday, May 2nd, 2004 at Saint Joseph Church (Sagesse School –
Ashrafieh).
Award Description
In 2009, the LFSANA initiates the ‘Pierre Boulos Award for Excellence’ in honor of Martyr
Pierre Boulos. This award is made on the basis of the best combination of commitment, character
and contribution to the Association as a whole. The achievements on the academic/professional
levels and the involvement in the society are also taken into account.
This award will be delivered on a yearly basis for one person or one group within the LFSANA,
and awarded during the LFNA annual Convention.
The award can be based on a specific project that embodies the desired characteristics; but it may
also be based on a general active behavior throughout the year.
Nomination and Selection Procedures
Each member of the LFSANA Executive Committee (President, Vice President,..) as well as any
member of the Macro-Structural Board (Chief Coordinators and Coordinators) can nominate a
person or a group of people for the ‘Pierre Boulos Award for Excellence’. The end of June is the
deadline for nominations every year. The Selection Committee* reviews the different
nominations, and the Award Winner is declared every year during the LFNA Annual Convention
*The Award Selection Committee includes: All Members of the LFSANA Executive
Committee (President, Vice President,..), the LFNA President and one other [selected] member of
the LFNA Executive Committee; and one representative from the Foreign Affairs and Public
Relations Department of the LF Student Association in Lebanon.
