France Won”t Solve the Crisis, but will Help Solve it
French President Nicolas Sarkozy”s top advisor Henry Guaino told a press conference at the end of his Lebanon visit that France cannot solve the Lebanese Cabinet crisis alone, but can only help in solving it.
Guaino told the reporters at Beirut”s Rafik Hariri International Airport that Lebanon cannot play an international role without government formation. He added that he heard an optimistic tone from the Lebanese officials regarding a settlement to the Cabinet crisis soon.
"There won”t be peace in the Middle East without talking about Lebanon”s independence," added Guaino.
Answering a journalist”s question, Guaino said that he did not meet any Hizbullah officials but he rather met a Shiite leader who is Speaker Nabih Berri.
"The Lebanese cabinet crisis is both internal and external. The Syrian-Saudi summit is very important for the peace process in Lebanon and the region. However, the responsibility of forming the Lebanese government is purely Lebanese. Lebanon needs democracy as much as it needs national unity." Added Guaino.
Guaino said that he noticed a change of styles regarding Syria”s approach in dealing with the International community, he also added that he cannot deny or confirm the visit of the Syrian president to France in the near future.
